Darlene “DeeDee” Johon Bauman
Darlene “DeeDee” Johon Bauman, 59, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 31, 1961, to Harold and Jodie Bauman in Joplin, Mo.
Bauman, or DeeDee as she was known by so many was a ray of light in so many peoples’ lives. She was a lover of the outdoors and would be outside as much as she could any season of the year. DeeDee was a diehard Chiefs fan and later in her life had the opportunity to go see them at Arrowhead Stadium. Bauman loved to go watch the Griffins and her local high school teams play. DeeDee loved her family and after both of her sisters, Kim and Linda, and her brother, Jerry passed away her staff became her family and she was very much loved, maybe even a little spoiled.
DeeDee contributed to her community by volunteering at Loretta’s Attic and helping Crawford House by picking up sticks and raking leaves out of the yard. She attended church in Walker, Mo., at Living Hope and Faith Ministries where she enjoyed singing and visiting with her church family. A team member in the special Olympics with her friends, she spent many years participating in the various activities.
Bauman had a long, full life. She experienced so many adventures with staff, the family that loved her so much, and she will be greatly missed.
DeeDee was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Jodie; sisters, Kim Shanta, and Linda Nelson; and a brother, Jerry Freeze. She is survived by one nephew, William Peterson.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Committal will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Walker. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
