Hagerman signs to play for the Cottey Comets
Nicole Hagerman, who is the girls basketball standout who played for Coach Fred Lundien and the Bronaugh Wildcats from Bronaugh, Mo., signed her letter of intent on Wednesday afternoon to play college girls basketball for the Cottey Comets at Cottey College in Nevada, Mo.
“It feels great to be able to finally call myself a Cottey Comet and I’m very excited to continue my basketball career with them,” said Hagerman. “I have always loved and lived the game of basketball. It's been my whole life and I will always play it.“
One of the reasons why she chose Cottey Comets was because of their determination to have her play for them. “They never gave up on me and they did everything and anything to get me on their team. “I see that as I will be very useful to them and I love the way the team is. It's more of a family than a team. Plus it's close to home and everyone can come watch and cheer me on.”
Hagerman knows that playing basketball at Bronaugh High School and playing basketball on the college level are two totally different animals, and is ready for that transition. “Some things that I think I need to transition are my three point shot, being aggressive, working on my left hand, and never getting down on myself and putting 110% in for every practice and game.”
She is also setting goals for herself, which may why she is as successful in basketball in the first place. “My goals for the first year is to be part of the team and get the feel of the college speed. I want to be as helpful as I can possibly be for the team so we can win games.”
Hagerman will definitely be one to watch for, as she will try to help the Cottey Comets head into a successful season this upcoming fall.
