Nevada Tennis host Bolivar in match up
While the boys baseball was off in Seneca yesterday, we did have some action at the Nevada Tiger Tennis courts yesterday afternoon when Nevada hosted the Bolivar Liberator in a matchup competition. Head Coach for the Nevada Tiger Tennis team Samanth Short described, “I am happy with how we played tonight even though we lost all together 2-7. This team was third in state last year They only lost one player so their team is still very strong. We still have a few boys that have never played High School tennis so the learning curve is still very high. As long as they are winning games and working on parts of their game to improve, I have no complaints.”
In the singles round, #1 Evan Rea for Nevada faced Trevor Dickenson of Bolivar and won 8-2. No. 2 Cody Leung for the Tigers battled Bolivar's own Lathan Martin with a loss of 2-8.
Nevada’s third ranked player Andrew LaNear fought Kyle Pock for the Liberators with a tough loss of 1-8. No. 4 ranked Jayden Thankamani for the Tigers faced Aidan Muck from Bolivar with a loss of 2-8. Fifth ranked for the Tigers Trey Streeter dueled it out with the Liberators Seth Martin with a loss of 2-8. Finally for the singles round, Nevada’s sixth ranked Jamin Mosher faced Bolivar’s Nathan McClellan with a loss of 3-8.
In the doubles matches, Rea and LaNear of Nevada duked it out with Bolivar’s Dickenson and Pock with a win of 9-7. Leun and Thankamani for the Tigers battled the duo of Martin and Martin for the Liberators with a loss of 2-8. Final match up for doubles was Mosher and Streeter of Nevada went against Mauck and Bowes for Bolivar 7-9.
Senior leader for the Tiger tennis squad Evan Rea quoted, “It was fun winning both my singles and doubles matches today. Bolivar is such a tough team, and with doubles especially being difficult, it was a fun day today. Bolivar is such a fun school to play also because of the way they serve top hand and they are such a fun team to be around competitively. They have such great players for their team and it's hard for a team like them to be as consistent as they are.” This afternoon, the Tigers will travel to Aurora, Mo., to take on the Aurora Houn' Dawgs in a match starting at 12 p.m. in the afternoon.
