2022 Vernon County Youth Fair royalty crowned Tuesday evening
The 77th Annual Vernon County Youth Fair royalty was crowned Tuesday evening in the fairgrounds pavilion. Stella Fast was crowned Princess, while Hadley Bruce took the crown for Queen.
Stella is the14-year-old daughter of Jeremy and Lori Fast. She is member of West Point 4-H Club and represented the Hustlers 4-H club. She participates in turkeys, rabbits, chickens, and photography in 4-H.
Hadley is the 18-year-old daughter of Tim Bruce and Deidre Stevens. She is an active member of the Walker 4-H Club and represented them this year. She is involved with swine, rabbits, and Arts and Crafts through 4-H.
First Runner-up in the Princess category was Michelle (Mikey) Metcalf. Mikey is the 13-year-old daughter of Jenny Metcalf and Shannon Gayman. She is a member of the Lone Star 4-H Club. She is involved in Arts and Crafts, photography, swine, sheep, and foods through 4-H.
First Runner-up and Miss Congeniality in the Queen category both went to Preslee Bower. Preslee is the 16-year-old daughter of Jason and Thabena Bower. She is an active member of Clayton 4-H Club and represented them this year. She participates in sheep, goat, home environment, cake decorating, and leadership through 4-H.
Miss Congeniality in the Princess category was Addison McInroy. Addison is the 14-year-old daughter of Nathan and Brandi McInroy. She is a member of West Point 4-H Club and represented the Bronaugh 4-H Club. She is involved in goats, turkeys, and photography in 4-H.
Crowning the Queen was last year's 2021 Vernon County Youth Fair Queen Josie Banes. Josie is the 18-year-old daughter of Brent and Ashley Banes. She is an active member of Bronaugh 4-H Club. She is involved with swine and beef through 4-H.
Josie is a member of the Moundville United Methodist Church. While in high school she was active in various sports and FFA. She has served as Bronaugh FFA President, National Honor Society President, and been involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team.
Josie enjoys giving back to her community through the Back to School Give and Take program, Salvation Army Toy Drive, Adopt A Highway, sports camps, and Vacation Bible School. She has earned many awards over the years, but some of her top achievements are various conference and district all team sports awards, Missouri Leadership Seminar Award, Bronaugh Class of 2022 Valedictorian, and a member of the 2022 Vernon County National Livestock Judging Team.
Josie plans to attend Missouri Southern State University to major in radiology to work towards becoming an x-ray technician. She believes the Vernon County Youth Fair Queen should be a good role model, be active in the community, present in youth fair activities, and always be willing to help serve with a smile. Her favorite fair memory is winning Fair Princess in 2018 and Fair Queen in 2021.
Crowning the Princess was last year's 2021 Vernon County Youth Fair Princess Charli Wydick. Charli is the 13-year-old daughter of Daniel and Andrea Wydick. She is a member of Milo-Oakdale 4-H club and represented Rinehart 4-H Club. She is involved in archery, cake decorating, outdoor adventures, foods, arts and crafts, rabbits, swine and leadership through 4-H.
Charli is a NMS cheerleader and is on the Track and Field team. She has served as club Historian and Reporter.
Charli loves community service. She once gave up birthday gifts to ask for donations for the local food pantry. Other projects she has helped with include the Barn Quilt Leadership Project, area toy drives, Valentines for Seniors, area food drives, and supply drives for Moss House and Nevada School District nurse’s closet. She has been awarded Best of Show at the Missouri State Fair for her cake in 2021. She has earned awards for her Missouri Report forms including Outstanding 9 year old and tied for Outstanding 11 year old. At the VCYF she has won many blue, Reserve, and Grand ribbons for livestock and non-livestock projects. She has earned multiple metals in Track and Field.
Charli plans to pursue a career as an anesthesiologist or marine biology. She believes the Vernon County Youth Fair Princess should be a good example for the fair and help out whenever is needed. She has several great memories of the fair including having water balloon fights behind the horse barn, washing the show pavilion bleachers with her sister when she was princess, and being crowned the 2021 Princess.
