Nevada Fire Department issues burn ban within city limits

No outdoor burning is allowed in the city limits of Nevada, Mo., effective immediately, according to Nevada Fire Chief Troy Denney.

Denney noted that the National Weather Service has the Nevada area in a highly affected area for the drought, with hot/dry and windy conditions continuing.

"We have seen a rise in grass and brush fire in Vernon County over the past couple weeks," stated Denney. He noted that the ban would be in place until the area receives some much-need rain.
