Food distribution event to be held Tuesday, Nov. 15
Healthy Nevada, Nevada Housing Authority, and Ozark Food Harvest will host the monthly drive-through Mobile Food Pantry for individuals 60 and over on Nov. 15. Like last month, the distribution will be two-fold. On Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., distribution will take place at the Walker City Park and from noon to 1 p.m., at Emery’s Truck Stop, in Deerfield. Any resident of Vernon County who is 60 years or older may pick up a box at either location. Boxes are limited to one per household.
Attendees will make their way through the directed traffic pattern and will not leave their vehicles. Upon entering the food distribution area, drivers will be asked to open their trunks and volunteers will place the boxes inside and close the trunk. Drivers can then safely leave the event. Any senior that has participated in the past will not be required to fill out any additional paperwork.
“This time of year can be particularly hard for our individuals who are on a fixed income," said Lead Strategist for Healthy Nevada Dana Redburn. "The holidays can put undue strain on finances making it difficult to make ends meet. We hope this helps in some small way. We look forward to food distribution days, especially this time of year."
