Nelda Jo McAdoo

Nelda Jo McAdoo, 94, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at her home in Nevada. Nelda was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Fairfax, Okla., to James D. and Lydia B. (Tyner) Means. Nelda was united in marriage to Harlan McAdoo on Nov. 29, 1947, in Nevada, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2002.

Nelda came to Nevada at a young age with her family. She graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1947. Nelda was a homemaker most of her life. At the age of 65 she began operating Spirit and Truth in Nevada where she continued working until the age of 85. She was a member of Community Christian Church in Nevada.

Survivors include two children, Sharon Turner (Norman), Bolivar, Mo., and Jack McAdoo, Nevada; four grandchildren, Eric Turner (Jennifer), Bolivar, Mo., Mark Turner, Bolivar, Jeffrey Ross Wilheim, Boston, Mass., and Zackariah McAdoo, Republic, Mo.; and six great-grandchildren, Lydia, Hanna, Brooklyn, Brock, Brett, and Bree; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Harlan, she was preceded in death by two sons, Joe McAdoo, and Nick McAdoo; and a daughter, Cathy Wilheim.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada, with Pastor Jeff Robinson officiating. Friends may call Monday from morning until 10 a.m., Wednesday.
