The Nevada Regional Medical Center (NRMC) Board of Directors met in regular session Tuesday evening. The main discussion of the evening came from Chief Executive Officer Jason Anglin giving administrative updates and going over the progress of the Management Action Plan.

In his administrative report, Anglin noted that the hospital's bond days of cash increased to 19.2. It previously had been at 16.3 in December. The hospital's gross acounts receivable decreased to73 days, and was previously 74 days in December.

Anglin discussed updates to the financial improvement plan in regards to Nevada Medical Clinic (NMC). "We were surveyed for our Medicare certification on Feb. 3," he stated. "Our plan of correction was approved and we were awarded a three-year term of accreditation effective Feb. 14, 2023. Our survey was sent to CMS Central and Regional Office for final approval."

Anglin noted that it is anticipated that NMC will be added to the 340B program in April, after approval is received from Regional Office. This drug pricing program is a U.S. federal government program that requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations and covered entities at significantly reduced prices. "Conservatively, there will be an estimated $400,000 growth in 340B program with the addition of NMC," he added.

Giving updates on the Management Action Plan, Anglin emphasized that in regards to the expansion of the 340B program, the audit is complete. Progress has also been made to growing revenue in re-opening of the senior Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) program by hiring four agency nurses. He also added that as far as developing a contract for Long-Term Care (LTC) intercompany costs, they have been having bi-weekly meetings with the LTC administrator and board members.

Anglin went on to add that they have slowly been growing the census in the senior BHU, but staffing limitations have hindered the reopening of the senior unit.

In her quality report, Chief Quality Officer Holly Bush noted that influenza, COVID, and RSV treatment have been NRMC's focus for the past 90 days. "Influenza and RSV incidence has dropped to almost zero and we do see two to three COVID positive a day, with hospitalizations rarely here in Vernon County now," stated Bush. In regards to the COVID pandemic, Bush noted that "the federal health emergency has an end date of May 11, 2023, with many of the waivers expiring at that time." Bush added that they continue to monitor and learn how this will affect NRMC. "Since implementing our COVID community level plan in July of 2022, we have not moved out of the green plan. We do continue to use masks at the bedside and we are watching for that to change."

Finally, in approval items, the board unanimously approved paying for Disaster Recovery Services. This is phase two of the project to assist with recouping funding through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) from COVID expenses.
