Nevada Tigers win their opening games in the Clever Tournament
The Nevada Tigers started their baseball season on a high note by winning two games on Monday in the Clever Tournament held in Springfield at Parkview High School.
In their first game, the Tigers defeated the Fair Grove Eagles 7-4. Nevada's pitcher, Case Sanderson, pitched five innings, giving up only one hit, striking out seven, and allowing no runs, earning him the win. The Tigers started strong, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning and adding two more in the fourth. Although Fair Grove made a comeback by scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth, it was not enough to defeat the Tigers.
In the second game against the Parkview Vikings, the Tigers again started strong, scoring five runs in the first inning. They continued to dominate, scoring in every inning except the fifth, finishing with a 13-3 victory.
Cade Beshore and Case Sanderson collected three hits each, while Barrett Nadurata added two more and picked up four RBIs. Kennedy D'Elia pitched the first three innings, giving up no runs on two hits.
The Tigers, now 2-0 for the season, will play their final pool game on Thursday against the Marshfield Blue Jays in Clever, with the game starting at 4 p.m. The outcome of this game will determine when the Tigers will play on Friday for the final day of the tournament.
