Nevada High School Cheerleaders hold annual awards banquet

Nevada High School Cheerleaders held their awards ceremony on Thursday evening, March 23. Coach Jackie Reed welcomed and thanked everyone for coming. She stated that it was a great year and thanked everyone for hanging in there with her as this was her first year coaching high school cheerleading. Reed said that she had a lot of learning curves since it’s different from coaching middle school cheerleading, but she noted that she enjoyed the high school level. She also stated that she feels much better prepared for next year.
Reed and Assistant Coach Janell Hawks presented the cheerleaders who lettered in cheerleading for the year. The girls who lettered were Ariana Alverez, Teresa Dawn, Preslee Bower, Kinzey LeMaster, Lanie Jackson, Sarah Jones, Taylor Turner, and Addyson Pryor. The coaches handed out the certificates of recognition to those who received them: Jovannah Miranda, Lily Clark (not present), Mallory Wiggins, Braelyn Harth, Shelby Austin, Lorena Alverez, Molly Remington, Hannah Roberts, Aubry Null, Darionna Robinson, Blaiz Pace, and Breauna Nance.
The next set of awards were voted on by the cheerleading squad themselves. Reed stated that this was a tough one, especially if there was a tie, and she would have to pick who she felt deserved the award the most. However, she said that she felt it was impressive that several of the girls were voted for different categories. She said that this was a good way for the girls to be supportive and positive towards one another. The following cheerleaders won the awards:
• Lorena Alerex – Outstanding Flyer
• Aubry Null – Teamwork

• Teresa Dawn – Outstanding Dance Moves
