Daniels receives 2023 MoEFCS New Teacher of the Year Award

Nevada Regional Technical Center (NRTC) Culinary Arts Instructor Emily Daniel has been awarded the 2023 Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences and Human Services (MoEFCS)New Teacher of the Year Award. Daniel, who is in her fifth year of teaching, was nominated by MoEFCS and was chosen after submitting an application.
In an interview, Daniel expressed her gratitude for the award and stated that it had been one of her goals to receive it within her first five years of teaching. She also received the Nevada R-5 Teacher of the Year Award last school year.
During her teaching years, Daniel was a member of the Professional Development Committee MoEFCS Organization for two years and has been a member of the Registration Committee MoEFCS Organization for three years. This year will make her fourth year putting on a presentation for the organization.
Daniel's Culinary Program has seen significant growth, and currently, 50% of her students are working in the food industry in some capacity. Her Culinary students are presently working on the dinner menu for Nevada's Prom, which is the second year that the Culinary students will serve.
When asked about her future plans or goals, Daniel stated that she is currently working on receiving her Masters Degree from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan., to receive the award that is the next step up, which is the MoEFCS Award, and to become a Career Technical Education (CTE) Director.
Daniel expressed her appreciation to Director of NRTC Eric Schneider, all of her co-workers, and her students for their support and hard work. She will be attending and receiving her award at the MoEFCS Summer Conference in Springfield on July 25.
The MoEFCS organization noted that the award is given in recognition of Daniel's many contributions to Career and Technical education.
