Dawna Sue (Tabor) Selsor
Dawna Sue (Tabor) Selsor passed away Monday, July 3, 2023, at her home in Nevada, Mo.
She was born to Hurshel "Bud" and Marjorie Tabor in Webb City, Mo., on Dec. 7, 1942. She married David Selsor on May 28, 1961, and they recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary.
Dawna graduated from Webb City High School with the class of 1961. They moved with David's military career until they settled in Nevada, Mo., in 1972.
She was a caring mother of four and was for years a homemaker. When she began her career, it was always related to her love of children. Beginning with her own in-home day care, working in the Nevada Middle School cafeteria and last worked for Nevada Head Start as a teacher. She volunteered with the Nevada Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and delivered Meals on Wheels with David.
Survivors include David Selsor of the home; children, Michael Selsor (Erica) of Carthage, D. Michelle Long (Corey), Mindy Whitworth (Tim), Mark Selsor and Kathy Lee all of Nevada; a sister, Cheryl Wheeler of Carthage; grandchildren Micah Wald (Morgan) of Carthage; Casey Long (Christy) of Blue Springs; Matthew Selsor of Tulsa, Okla., and Dacey Turner (Jordan) of Nevada; stepgrandchildren, Eric Mattice (Arantxa), Emma Mattice (Bryce) and Shane Ritzema; great-grandchildren, Tinsley, Raiden and Connor; as well as one aunt; Patricia Snyder; one niece and numerous cousins and close friends. There is no way to count the many adopted families, children and grandchildren that she has loved throughout the years.
Her faith in God never waivered all throughout her life. She expressed her faith through her words, actions and the love of the children and people around her.
We are very thankful for her two hospice personnel, Sammie and Terrylyn, that provided beyond amazing care.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 10, at 5:30 p.m., at the Riverside Cowboy Church, in Nevada, Mo., with interment at a later date in Ozark Memorial Park, Joplin.
Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to Gentiva Hospice, Carthage, Mo., or Make a Wish through the family.
