Lady Wildcats fall to Lady Tigers, 25-11, in volleyball match
The Bronaugh Lady Wildcats faced off against the Rich Hill Lady Tigers in an intense volleyball showdown on Tuesday evening, Sept. 5. Unfortunately for the home team, the Lady Wildcats were unable to secure a victory, as they dropped all three sets to the Lady Tigers.
The first set of the match saw the Lady Tigers racing ahead with an impressive display of skill. They quickly piled up 10 points, leaving the Lady Wildcats with only three on the scoreboard. The Lady Tigers maintained their momentum, pushing the score to 16-5 in their favor. Rich Hill then called for a timeout while holding a commanding lead of 20-5. With determination, the Lady Tigers closed out the first set with a convincing score of 25-7.
Entering the second set, the Lady Tigers continued to assert their dominance, amassing seven points ahead of their opponents. Despite a valiant effort from the Lady Wildcats, who began to fight back, they ultimately fell short in the set, with a final score of 25-16.
In the final set of the evening, the Lady Tigers wasted no time in building a lead of 9-3. The Lady Wildcats struggled to keep up, eventually calling a timeout when the score reached 16-6. Despite their efforts, the Lady Wildcats couldn't turn the tide and succumbed to the Lady Tigers with a final set score of 25-11.
Assistant Coach Emma Sandness offered her perspective on the team's performance, acknowledging the need for improvement. "They definitely have some improvements that they need to make," said Sandness. She was asked about the root cause of the team's challenges on the court, to which she replied, "This is the first time that most of them have played together. They need to work on the fundamental skills and get acclimated to playing with each other."
