David “Dave” Douglas Killmer, 86, Nevada, MO passed away peacefully at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Dave was born November 7, 1937 in St.

Louis, MO to Hugh Douglas and Royal Mae (Sedgwick) Killmer. He married Alene Nadine

Egger on February 6, 1960, in Oregon, MO.

The couple made their home in Ferguson, MO where Dave soon after began a 30-year career in 1963 with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation in the Human Resources Division. He had a variety of assignments which took the family from St. Louis to Titusville, FL in 1967 where he spent nine years as the Personnel Manager. In 1976, they returned to the St. Louis area at the corporate headquarters. In 1978, he was offered the opportunity to become the Administration Manager for the company’s F-15 Fighter production program with the Japanese AirForce in Nagoya, Japan. He then accepted a similar position with the Australian Air Force F-18 Fighter program in Melbourne, Australia, where they moved in 1982. The family returned to St. Louis in 1985 and he had the opportunity to work in several divisions of McDonnell Douglas, including the F-18 Super Hornet, retiring in July 1993. In September of 1993, he and Nadine moved to Nevada, MO where he was hired to be the Administrator and Nadine was hired to be the Social Worker at a new Nursing Home facility on Highland Street. After retiring from there in 2004, he returned to the workforce where he worked for the local Edward Jones Investment office on a part-time basis from 2006-2019.

Dave and his wife, Nadine were very involved with the Nevada United Methodist Church, where his love of music was evident. He sang in the Chancel Choir, the Praise Band and was a member of the Bell Choir. He was an avid member of the Nevada Rotary Club as he had been while in Australia.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nadine, of the home; three children, Renee Killmer Walter and her husband, Greg, Gulf Breeze, FL, Mark David Killmer and his wife, Janine Roney, Melbourne, Australia, and Jeffrey Douglas Killmer and his wife, Erin Nolan Killmer, San Rafel, CA; six grandchildren, Lance & Layne Hackleman, Grace and Ellyn Killmer, Fiona and Griffin Killmer; step-grandson, Ryan Walter; one brother, Jonathon Edward Killmer and his wife, Linda, Scottsdale, AZ; 2 half-brothers, William Killmer and wife, Melissa, Arlington, VA, and Robert Killmer, Omaha, NE; half-sister, Gwenda Bowen and her husband, Charles, Tyler, TX; and half-sister, Cary Gross, West Chester, PA.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Royal Mae Schuchman; father, Dr. Hugh Douglas Killmer; step-father, Jess Schuchman; step-brother, Jess Charles Schuchman; and step-sisters, Mary Carter and Bernice Cody.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Nevada United Methodist Church, Nevada, MO, with Reverend Michelle Whitlock officiating. Memorials may be made to the Nevada United Methodist Church music program for new music and an updated sound/ technology system in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
