Shirley Ann Johnson

Shirley Ann Johnson, age 88, passed from this life peacefully on August 24, 2024, at Citizens Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Shirley was born on November 20, 1935, in Humansville, MO, to John and Thelma (Ashlock) Locke. She had five brothers and 2 sisters.

On October 2, 1955, Shirley married the love of her life, Donald W. Johnson. To this union, four children were born, Danny, Susan, Janice, and Cathy.

Shirley was a stay-at-home mom and babysat for extra income. She later worked for the Nevada Hospital in the housekeeping department for several years. She did all this while serving alongside her husband while he was a minister for fifty years.

Shirley was saved at Durnell Chapel Church in 1966 and was a long-time member of Elkton Baptist Church.

She lived most of her life in Nevada but moved to El Dorado Springs with Cathy when her health started to fail. She became less active in the last year of her life but was content watching tv, reading, and doing puzzles. She did miss visiting with her grandchildren though.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Thelma Locke; husband, Donald Johnson; son, Danny Johnson; brothers: John Locke, Richard Locke, Roy Locke, and James Locke; and sister, Nancy Morford.

She is survived by her daughters: Susan Ring, Janice (Mike) Manley, and Cathy Johnson; brother, Terry Locke; sister, Freda Levick; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Shirley Johnson will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Robinson Cemetery near Collins, MO.
