Shirley Ann Fox

Friday, October 18, 2024

Ann Fox was born January 10, 1937, near Moundville, Missouri to Jay Albert and Mildred Elizabeth (Gilbert) Robinson.  At an early age, she was led by her Sunday School teacher to faith in the Lord.  She attended rural elementary schools and graduated from Walker High School in 1953.

On June 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to Reverend Hubert A. Fox, at the Sylvan Dale Baptist Church.

Following seminary training, the couple, along with their two children, moved to Thailand, where they served as missionaries for thirty-five years.  As a missionary, Ann filled many roles, including teacher and musician.

Music was always an important part of their life and ministry, and in retirement Ann and Hubert continued this interest through participation in the music program of First Baptist Church, Nevada.  They found many other opportunities to serve through their church, including teaching Sunday School.  Ann also volunteered in the church office, taught English classes, and drove cancer patients to appointments while she was able.

Even as her health declined, she was a cheerful person and her light-hearted comments and sense of humor made her a joy to be around.  She lived her whole life as a testimony to her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Pat Fife, Mary Harms, and Billie Lowe; and her son, Philip Fox.  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Hubert Fox; daughter and son-in-law Beth & Charles Gregory; daughter-in-law Cathy Fox; sisters Sue Robinson and Linda Erwin; brother John Robinson; brother-in-law Charles Lowe; and nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Nevada, with Dr. Kevin Daugherty officiating.  Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery.  Friends may call now and until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in Ann’s memory to First Baptist Church, Nevada or the Alzheimer’s Association in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
