Merla Ann Moseley

   Merla Ann Moseley, 57, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. Merla was born January 23, 1967 in Stewartsville, MO to Eldon and Helen E. (Watkins) Shisler.

     Merla was raised in Stewartsville and graduated from Stewartsville High School. She lived and worked in Louisville, KY for several years then came to Nevada in 2004. During her life, Merla worked at Target as well as several other jobs in retail sales. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her savior in 2023. She enjoyed classic country music, especially listening to Kenny Chesney who was a favorite of hers. Merla also enjoyed watching the Waltons and various game shows on TV. She was fondly given the nickname “Mary Poppins” by her friends.

     Survivors include her husband for the past 18 years, John Richard Smith of the home; a brother, Joel Shisler, Magnolia, AR; her sister, Sara Shisler, St. Joseph, MO; and numerous cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

     Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Joshua Pyle officiating. Inurnment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
