William (Bill) James Schulz

William (Bill) James Schulz, 94, formerly of Richards, MO passed
away on Monday, December 23, 2024, in Nevada, MO. Bill was born January
21, 1930, in Peculiar, MO to William M. and Elsie J. (Davis) Schulz. He
married Mary M. Pottorf on December 22, 1951, and she preceded his in
death on March 9, 2011.
Bill was raised in Peculiar and graduated from Peculiar High School
in 1947. He attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a
degree in agriculture in 1951. Following college, he was drafted into
the United States Army and served two years during the Korean Conflict.
Bill served with the US Airborne and was also a Personnel Officer. Upon
his discharge from the Army, he returned to the Kansas City area. In
1954 he and Mary came to Richards to operate the family farm. Bill moved
to Nevada in 1982 and continued to farm. He was a 60+ year member of
Masonic Lodge in Richards, a member of the O.E.S. in Nevada, and was a
member of the First Chirstian Church in Nevada.
Survivors include his children: Cathy Davis (Bill), Richards, MO,
Kenneth Schulz, of the home in Nevada, and Kevin Schulz (Teri),
Longmont, CO; ten grandchildren; numerous great, and
great-great-grandchildren; and three nephews, and one niece. In addition
to his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother,
Robert Schulz; a sister, Mildred Miller; and a grandson, Shannon Meek.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Monday, December 30,
2024, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment with Military Honors
will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Nevada c/o
Ferry Funeral Home.
