Janice Fowler Lundberg
Janice Fowler Lundberg, Wichita, Kansas and formally of Sheldon, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home on January 2, 2025, after a long, courageous health battle. Janice was born Jan 26, 1947 at the Nevada City Hospital to Floyd and Mildred
(Norwood) Fowler. Janice was born on her brother Larry's 5th birthday. Larry considered Janice his birthday present and thought she was pretty neat. Janice was to become the 4th child in a total of six siblings. Janice grew up on the family farm where she developed a love for almost all 4 legged creatures, especially cats. She was baptized into Christ, in the family pond by her Uncle Willis Fowler. She was raised in a family with a strong Christian faith. Janice attended all twelve years of school at Sheldon and graduated in May ,1965. She attended one year at then Southwest Missouri State College, Springfield, Missouri and a year at Missouri Southern College in Joplin Mo. Janice then moved to Fort Scott, Kansas and began employment at Western Insurance Company. A blind date with Tom Lundberg, set up by a friend Bill Otto, resulted in a two year relationship. On August 29, 1970 at the Milo Christian Church, Tom and Janice were united in a life long commitment of marriage. Following marriage, Tom and Janice moved to Lawrence, Kansas where Tom finished his studies in pharmacy school. While Tom was in school, Janice worked in a dental office supporting Tom. During her time there she earned several certificates of accomplishments through in office training. According to Tom, the most important certificate she earned was the PHTC certificate, otherwise known as the Putting Husband Through College certificate. It was during their time in Lawrence, Janice developed her love the KU Jayhawks. Tom and Janice were able to attend several football and basketball games, including some Final Four games. Tom and Janice then moved to Wichita, Kansas where Tom set up practice as a pharmacist. The purchase of her dream home soon was in the plans. Not having children of her own, Janice became the favorite aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She would offer them to stay a week in Wichita going to water parks, parks to play on numerous rides, ice cream, staying up late watching TV and whatever she could to entertain them, show her love and spend time spoiling them.
The Sheldon Old Settlers Picnic in August was a yearly home town celebration
Janice loved to attend. She would often take her parents to the Picnic and spend time reconnecting with former classmates and old friends. Janice had a heart of service and could make your day brighter just by spending time with her. She will be truly missed but definitely not forgotten. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mildred Fowler, her
brother and sister in law, Larry and Mary Fowler and brother in law Laverne
Leininger. Survivors include her husband Tom, Wichita, Kansas, sister Helen
Leininger, brothers Clint (Kathy) Fowler, Ed (Jeanie) Fowler and Kerry (Lynn) Fowler all of Sheldon, Missouri and sister in law Marcille (Terry) Amburgey of
Scarborough Ontario, Canada as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Services will be January 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Sheldon Christian Church, Sheldon, Missouri wifh Colton Cockburn officiating. A private famfly interment at Sheldon Cemetery will be held at a later date. The family requests no flowers and donations can be made to the charity of
choice.
