John A. Lightfoot

John A. Lightfoot, 77, Sheldon, Mo passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, after a short illness. He was born September 13, 1947, in Popular Bluff, MO to J.A. Lightfoot and Martha Frances Edwards. He married Charlene M. Deruchia on November 10, 1973.
John graduated from Berkeley Hight School. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and enlisted in the US Army-Green Beret as a paratrooper. He loved Photography and Skydiving. He worked for Fox Photo in St. Louis, Mo where met his future wife, Charlene. M Deruchia. He was offered a promotion at Nashua Photo, and he and his young family moved to Parkersburg, West Virginia, where he worked until 1981. He moved his family to Sheldon, Missouri, as he owned land, and wanted to build his own home and farm. He and Charlene built a beautiful home together. John was well-known in his field of Statistical Analysis, and was offered an opportunity to help grow the photo processing business at Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, AR. He did this for a year, and continued to farm, but the demands of farming, working in Arkansas, and raising his family, he and his wife declined the offer to relocate to Bentonville, Arkansas. In 1986, he and his wife started John Lightfoot and Associates, which led to a life-long relationship ~ 37 years with Miller’s Professional Imaging offering his services in Statistical Analysis. He loved to farm until his health interfered.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula M. Lightfoot, St. Charles, Mo: one sister Frances Jane Lightfoot Elphingstone, Bastrop, TX.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Frances Edwards Lightfoot McQuaid, his father, J.A. Lightfoot, his sister, Sister, Cerelda Joan (CJ) Lightfoot Demastus, and his wife of 31 years, Charlene M. Lightfoot.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 1;30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Sheldon Cemetery in Sheldon, MO.
Memorials are suggested in his name to Sheldon Methodist Church c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
