Martha Kintner, a beloved artist, writer and matriarch died on March 24, 2025 at StoneBridge Senior Living - Oak Tree in Jefferson City, Mo. She was 90 years old.

Born in Pittsburgh, Kan., on December 30, 1934 to Samuel Miller and Lenore Fields, she soon moved to Nevada, Mo., where she attended grade school and graduated from Nevada High School in 1952. She looked back fondly on her younger years when she would play with friends on Washington Street while her grandmother played pinochle at the kitchen table with neighbors. After leaving home, she lived in Colorado, Oregon, Florida and Washington.

At the age of 55, Martha was paralyzed when a drunk driver crashed into her home. Despite this, she never felt sorry for herself and embraced the comedy of life. She was a pillar of strength in the face of adversity. Through the challenges life dealt her, she often thought back to an adage from her mother, “You can do anything you want, but first you have to want to do it.” Nothing slowed her down, and she lived independently until age 88.

Although she held many jobs throughout her life, Martha’s favorite among them was her role as mother and grandmother. She would spend hours in the garden planting flowers with her grandchildren. She taught them to paint and cook. She had a marvelous sense of humor and an orneriness that was infectious. For her, a cup of coffee was never more than an arm’s length away.

Survivors include her children Mark Fulk, Greer’s Ferry, Ark., and Christine Cord, Columbia, Mo; granddaughters Stephanie Houghkirk (Dustin), Baldwin City, Kan., Jessica Klimke (Benedikt), Oberdorf, Switzerland, Melissa Mosbrucker, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Jennifer Mosbrucker, Chicago, Ill.; thirteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jefferson Kintner, and her son, Jeffrey Dean Brown of Houston, Texas.

A funeral will be held April 22 at 11 a.m. at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. A reception will follow at Radio Springs Park.
