Cottey basketball adds new players

Joining Amalia Harris and Dazjah Bryant in the Cottey basketball recruiting class, are: Madison Coose, is a 6-0 post player out of Lockwood. Coose eclipsed the 1,000 point mark as a four-year starter in high school, averaging 13.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. When I was a child my mother was always cautioning me to leave early so that I wouldn't be late. That influenced me so that I was never tardy to school, work, or social events. She was particularly urgent about being early for a train connection. When she took my sister Ellen and me to the Union Station in Washington to spend our Easter holiday visiting our sister, Kathryn in suburban New York City, we usually had at least a half hour wait on the shiny wooden benches before we were even allowed to go down the stairs to get on the train. ...

Burn and exterminate haunts of Bushwhackers

In the Civil War, many words were used which are not commonly used to day. One of these words is haunts. Mr. Webster, who happens to be one of the author's best friends, defines haunts as "to visit often" or "to appear in the form of an apparition" or ghostly figure.
