Lester L. Barker, 73, of Cabool, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at his home. He was born on June 12, 1941, in Nevada, Mo., the son of Harry and Wilma (Young) Barker. Les grew up in Nevada where he attended and graduated from high school. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Marines and proudly served his country in Vietnam. On Feb. 14, 1990, Les was united in marriage to Delores Thurston and made their home in the Kansas City area until moving to Cabool, Mo., in 1994...

Ruby Etta Emery, 95, of Nevada, Mo., the daughter of Myron Willis and Grace Jesse (Heslop) Boughton, was born June 23, 1919, in Neosho Falls, Kan., and passed from this life on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, in Joplin.
