Prairie Pride reports big response from local farmers; extends equity drive through April 10

Officials with Prairie Pride, Inc., reported recently that about 1,000 farmers in the area have pledged enough money to build a biodiesel plant in Vernon County, in the Eve area, about halfway between Nevada and Fort Scott, Kan. During their eight-week equity drive, the co-op, known as Prairie Pride has raised about $32 million -- enough to proceed, but the board of directors has extended the equity drive through April 10, saying that additional funding will "allow for a more comfortable working capital margin and place Prairie Pride in a better negotiation position with a senior lender. ...
