Betty Jean Thomas, 81, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at her residence. She was born Sept. 17, 1926, in St. Joseph, Mo. She was married Aug. 30, 1955, in Yuma, Ariz., to Charles R. Thomas and he survives of the home. Mrs. Thomas grew up in St. Joseph. She worked in the aircraft manufacturing industry during World War II. She also worked for a number of years in the manufacturing of Christmas tree lights in Kansas City. She and her husband Charles have lived in Nevada, since 1992...

Local man arrested in connection with donation jar theft on Tuesday

Yesterday, at approximately 8:59 a.m., Nevada Police Sgt. Jeff Baker responded to a report of a theft at Cash 'N' Dash No. 3 on West Austin. According to his report, upon arriving at the convenience store he was informed that 21-year-old Michael Dickey had allegedly reached into a donation jar while making a purchase and removed several different bills...

Whether you are talking about the number of days left for shopping before Christmas, the number of days left in 2007, or the Open Enrollment Period for Plan D and Medicare Advantage Private Fee For Service, there are not many left. The conception of times changes as a person has more years behind them. As a child, it seemed that Christmas would never arrive. Now, it seems like that we only got over last Christmas and it is about to arrive once again...
