Dear Editor: A special thanks to Naomi Foreman for a job well done. Neoma wrote an araticle for the Nevada Daily Mail telling of some of my Vietnam experiences. The resonse has been very heart warming and touching. One family wrote that they had several friends who had lost son's in Vietnam and yet today their saddness is still there and they were glad to hear of someone who was able to get their life back together...

Over the last 10 years, Missouri schools have decreased the time allocated for physical education, while increasing the time that kids spend sitting in the classroom. May 7 An accident occurred at 5:38 p.m., on Cedar before Austin, involving a SUV driven by Jacqueline L. Linn, of Bronaugh, and a pickup owned by Donald J. Vaughn, of Nevada. No injuries were reported. There was a report of a petty theft from a motor vehicle, in the 700 block of north Washington, made by Beth Waldrup, of Nevada. She reported a pair of Tommy Hilfiger eyeglasses, one Fossil wrist watch, one backpack, and two books stolen...

Jonathan Browning, 19, of Carthage, passed away at 10:15 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009, at his home. He was born May 23, 1989, in Nevada. Jonathan had lived in Carthage for the past 11 years. He was a student at College View State School, where he was beginning his senior year. Jonathan attended Fairview Christian Church in Carthage...

Harold L. Swischer, 97, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 17, 1912, in Moline, Kan., to Benjamin Swischer and Grace Lynam Derby Swischer. He married Doris Rader on March 12, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., and she preceded him in death...

Clifford Schmidt, 79, of Rich Hill, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Willow Lane Nursing Center, in Butler.
