The Northeast Vernon County R-1 School District's Proposition S, a 94-cent tax levy to fund the construction of a new school failed despite a tied vote between the two sides; 417, yes; 417, no. A four-sevenths majority was required for passage. A similar effort to fund a new school asked voters for a $1.90 per $100 in assessed valuation increase in 2008, and that question failed by a slightly wider margin, gleaning 338 votes in favor of the 2008 levy increase and 395 "no" votes...

Police are on the lookout for a man who attempted a bank robbery in El Dorado Springs on Monday, and authorities say he could be connected to other robberies as well.
