Layton joins Nevada Daily Mail newsroom as Sports Reporter (Local News ~ 02/06/21)
The Nevada Daily Mail welcomed a new Sports Reporter in the newsroom this week. Hank Layton, a native of Northeast Vernon County, accepted the position after recently returning home to Missouri. Layton graduated from NEVC in 2004 as his class salutatorian and played baseball and basketball while a student there — including many memorable battles against county rivals Bronaugh and Hume. Tigers, Lady Tigers spoil Cassville's homecoming

A couple weeks ago, the Nevada High School girls basketball team found its identity. Friday in Cassville, the Lady Tigers showed off their new look — to rave reviews. “We’ve really worked hard in practice on applying pressure, and tonight we applied that pressure,” said NHS head coach Blake Howarth, whose team led 17-5 after one quarter en route to a 49-38 victory over the Lady Cats. “I’m super excited about the way our girls showed up and played, especially in setting the tone early.”...
