Joyce Kilmer's poem, "Trees," was one of the poems our third-grade teacher suggested we read. I loved it and instantly memorized it. I could recite it today if the jingle that parodied it didn't stick in my mind and block the real poem. I think it might have been Ogden Nash who wrote the take-off from the poem, but I am not sure. It goes, "I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree, Indeed unless the billboards fall I'll never see a tree at all!"...
