According to the Missouri State Highway Patrolm last year , there were 1,749 traffic crashes during the Christmas holiday counting period. On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Nevada High school students traveled to Webb City to audition for the District Honor Band. The following students made the band and traveled to Missouri Southern State University on Saturday, Nov. 6, for an all-day rehearsal and a 7 p.m. concert. Students who were selected for the honor band as well as the alternates were eligible to try out for State band on Dec. 4, in Columbia. Twenty-one students from the Nevada campus of Crowder College graduated on Dec. 18 during commencement exercises on the main campus at Neosho. Some of the Girl Scout troops in Nevada wanted to do something special for Audrey Gustafsonm who is an 8-year-old Brownie from Webb City, Mo. Audrey was diagnosed in May with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She has spent the last 6 months at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., and was recently released to spend the holidays at home. ...

William D. Flemming, 80, St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis. He grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1948.
