Former Nevada City Clerk Virginia Shepherd passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Moran, Kan., the daughter of John W. Rawlings and Clara Crouch Rawlings, who preceded her in death. She married Ernest Shepherd of Nevada, June 19, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he also preceded her in death on April 21, 1994...
