Eight people have filed for election to the Nevada R-5 school board, vying for two seats up for election on April 5. The Nevada Daily Mail sent identical questionnaires to each of the candidates. WALKER -- Having refurbished the NEVC Knights' gymnasium last fall and winter, volunteers have gone to the school's baseball field and moved 20 tons of dirt and sand to keep rainwater from collecting. Mr. Calvin Rex Hensley, 86, of Republic, Mo., passed to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 27, 2011 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo. He was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Gentry, Mo., the son of O.C. and Lena (Davis) Hensley. Rex served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Betty Lou Scism, 75, Nevada, passed away at her residence on Monday, March 28, 2011, following a lengthy illness. She was born on Sept. 22, 1935, in Greenfield, Iowa, to Merlin T. Mary Ellen Poteet, 83, Lamar, Mo., passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 6, 1928, in Anthon, Iowa, to Edwin Walter Prescott and Opal Viola Palmer Prescott. She married James Warner on Oct. 6, 1944, in Anthon, Iowa, and he preceeded her in death in December 1984. She married Leroy Poteet in November 1992 in Arkansas, and he survives of the home...

Walter Lynn Foote, 87, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away at Northcrest Living Center March 24, 2011. The Nevada High School golf team tied for sixth place with St. Mary's Colgan, out of a 17 team field, finishing four strokes behind Pittsburg and Mount Vernon, Monday in the Miami (Okla.)
