In the early mornings around Nevada a light mist still settles in the low places and the sun hangs fat and sullen just above the horizon. June 12 and 13 the Vernon County Health Department conducted an eight hour course titled Baby-sitting Basics. Joy Hawks, RN and W.I.C. (Women, Infants & Children) Coordinator at the heath department was the class instructor. 100 Years Ago -- June 15, 1903 The Fort Scott excursion train of four passenger coaches arrived Sunday afternoon at 1:45. A number of Ft. Scott people also came over on the afternoon regular passenger. The visitors divided time between Lake Park and the ball grounds and seemed to have had a most delightful time while in our city. ...
