Belinda Jean Beisly, 47, Deerfield, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at her home in Deerfield. She was born Feb. 15, 1962, in Fort Scott, to Elwood Leroy Irwin and Wilma Jean Smith Irwin. Belinda grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1980. She worked at Bain's Del-Way Drive-In for many years. She has worked at 3M for the past 17 years. The Nevada Neptunes participated in the Monett Invitational swim meet in Monett, Mo., on June 20 and 21. The meet featured 550 swimmers with 22 Nevada swimmers participating. Nevada Elks Lodge blood drive to benefit local patients

Shrine Circus to perform in Nevada July 21

The 2009 Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Circus will perform Tuesday, at the Vernon County fairgrounds, at 5 and 8 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $11 for children age 12 and younger. He gave a slide show presentation about the 1904 World's Fair held in St. Louis. After giving an overview of the Fair itself, he told the particular story about a train wreck that involved some Vernon county residents on their way to the fair...
