The unbeaten Nevada Middle School eighth-grade football team picked up two more wins. The Tigers defeated Carthage 20-6, then toppled Neosho 12-6. On the Carthage victory, Nevada coach Jamie Alexander said, "It turned into a real dogfight early, but, in the end, we wanted it more than they did." Leading only 6-0 at halftime, the Tigers put the game away with 14 second-half points. ...

Driver walks away from devastating truck crash

Nevada firefighters and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash along northbound U.S. 71 Highway, between the interchange for U.S. 54 Highway and the on ramp for Osage Boulevard. According to the patrol's report, Gina Hodge, the driver of the tractor-trailer, lost control of the vehicle which hit the inside guard rail and jack-knifed before sliding into the ditch on the east side of 71. ...
