State funding issue continues to trouble local school district

Finances were the focus of the Nevada R-5 School Board at their meeting Wednesday night. Dr. Ted Davis presented the board with information from Missouri Budgeting Director Linda Luebbering on state funding for schools. The funding outlook is bleak for the next year or two and there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight but Davis remained optimistic that the Nevada school district would weather the financial difficulties ahead but warned that it wouldn't come without sacrifice. ...

Tuesday afternoon the residents of Moore-Few Care Center took advantage of the nice weather to make lye soap on the patio. "We've done this for several years," Activity Director Jackie Halcomb stated. "We thought since it was nice weather it would be a good day to come outside and make soap."
